The DCSF/National Strategies web area www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/nationalstrategies has been recognised by the Web Marketing Association Awards as ‘outstanding’ in the categories ‘Best Government Website’ and ‘Best Education Website’. The award places the National Strategies web area in the same league as well known global brands.
The international awards receive entries from more than 47 countries, in 96 categories so thousands of entries are received each year. Each website is judged on seven criteria, earning a score between zero and 70 points and entries that receive a score of 60 or greater, receive the ‘Outstanding Website Award’.
The National Strategies web area for education professionals hosts all the National Strategies teaching guidance material in one central place and utilises the latest web technology. It represents an important contribution to the DCSFs commitment to provide high quality web material that can be personalised by practitioners in early years settings, primary and secondary schools. Since its November 2008 launch the area has received over 4 million visitors.
Built on the latest Open Source technology the advanced navigation and search features have made the thousands of pages of content easily accessible. Users also have access to a range of web tools and can network and share ideas by joining different discussion groups.
The premier annual website award competition was founded in 1997 to help set a high standard for internet marketing and development of the best websites on the world wide web.
