Monday 23/11/2009

The DCSF/National Strategies web area www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/nationalstrategies has been selected as a finalist for the e-Government National Awards 2009 in the following three categories:

• Central e-Government excellence: Take-up & usage growth (Delivering high and growing take-up of an e-enabled service through effective service delivery and marketing)

• e-Government excellence: Leadership & Professionalism
(Leading e-Government strategies and professional development which contribute to achieving positive transformation)

• e-Government excellence in Learning & Skills
(Public sector online or electronic services which transform learning & skills outcomes).

These highly sought-after awards recognise excellence across 11 categories, highlighting the UK’s top public sector innovators in the use of technology, enabling businesses and citizens to better communicate with councils, central government and other public sector organisations.

The National Strategies web area for education professionals hosts all the National Strategies support materials in one central place. It offers high quality web material that can be personalised by practitioners and teachers working in early years settings, primary and secondary schools. The advanced navigation and search features have made support materials easily accessible. Users also have access to a range of web tools and can network and share ideas by joining a range of discussion groups.

Now in their sixth year, the annual e-Government National Awards are supported by the Cabinet Office; the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) and the Society of IT Management (SOCITM).

UK Government CIO John Suffolk will reveal the winners on 20 January 2010 at a Ministerial dinner at the City of London's Guildhall.
