Sue Ellis - National Director Early Years
Sue Ellis was appointed National Director, Early Years in February 2009 after spending more than thirty years teaching in nursery, primary and special schools as well as inspection and advisory roles.
Following a number of teaching and management posts, Sue became a Registered Inspector with OFSTED and undertook many primary and nursery school inspections around the country. In 1999, Sue was appointed as Early Years SEN Adviser to Somerset LA and subsequently became the Senior Adviser for the Foundation Stage there.
Sue joined the National Strategies Foundation Stage team as a Regional Adviser (Inclusion) in the South West in April 2004. Following the Rose Review, she joined the Communication, Language and Literacy Development (CLLD) team and was appointed as its Senior Director in 2007. Since then, Sue has played an active role in both the CLLD and Early Years programmes and recently has taken lead responsibility for developing and implementing the Every Child a Talker programme.
